Day #053: Beat The Odds

Even when the odds are against you, battle it out like you own the moment.

If you believe you have a mission to beat it, make it or be it. Then this is your moment.

Your time to shine is now.

You have already bet the odds, if your willing to go for it. Making the decision to act gets you halfway there.

I have been reiterating over and over to push yourself and to drive and conquer yours goals and dreams.

This still stands. Keep dong it!

But to do this it will require a journey.

This journey will have many chapters of failing and not getting what you thought you wanted.

But that’s OK. As you will also have chapters full of success and if you stay on target you will succeed.

It’s the days when we least expect our achievements to occur that they actually occur and surprise us.

Let me give you an example:

If you’re a runner like me, you will understand the mental importance of finishing a run. Even if it is at a slower time, this is better than stopping and giving up halfway. Finishing creates the success. If you beat the PB or not you have still succeeded. If you end up beating the PB, this only proves my point that there will be many chapters of success. However if you stay on target and fight you odds and push for the finish line. You will come out surprising yourself and proving just how great you are.

Get out there. Beat the odds.

The only impossible journey is the one you never begin. – Anthony Robins

Day #052: Decide You Can!

Making an excuse before you even start, is only setting yourself up for failure.

If you decide that you can’t do something before you even attempt, than your mind naturally begins to adjust to this idea.

Telling yourself you can’t achieve something because of this, or because of that… only creates a belief system. One which is setting you up to fail. If you repeat this process it evolves like a bad habit, becoming something expected, of routine and hard to break. If you don’t believe it’s possible to achieve what you want, you will never succeed.

Sometimes, all the distance that seems to be separating you from your goals is in your mind. If you removed those mental barriers, you would see that you could just reach out and grab what you’ve been pursuing for so long.

As long as you don’t believe that it’s possible, you are going to continue to create excuses and distractions. That’s simply because it feels uncomfortable or scary to have something you don’t think you are ready to have, or become someone you don’t believe you can be.

If you removed the negative beliefs about what YOU can have and could become, your reality would change instantly.

“Procrastination is the bad habit of putting off until the day after tomorrow what should have been done the day before yesterday.” -Napoleon Hill

Day #051: Keep Going!

The best thing you can do is to keep going.

You have made it this far so why stop now?

Now that you have passed the 50 day mark, take some time to reflect on how you are travelling.

Yesterday I challenged you to make 2016 a better year. Now in order to do this, you need to be growing.

In order to keep growing, you need to be pushing yourself. You also need to reflect and evaluate your ongoing progress.

Whatever your goals may be, you should write them down and track them consistently.

If you have been tracking them, reflect and review your progress. Challenge yourself.

If you haven’t been tracking your goals, then you can still start! Challenge yourself.

Some of the areas you should be pushing to grow yourself in are noted below. I have also included some examples:

  • Health: Track your weight, track your calories, track your measurements, track food types.
  • Fitness: Track your running km’s, track your steps, track your workouts, track your reps, track your sets, track your times, track your heart rate.
  • Relationships: Review your contacts, do you know each one? Are you networking with them?
  • Work: Set some performance objectives, both work and personal related. Aim for a promotion, a raise. Track your efforts.
  • Spiritual Walk: How much time are spending on this? 10%, 15%, 20% of your time? More or Less?
  • Finances: Daily saving goals, budgets, long terms goals, % allocation (pleasure vs work).
  • Aspirations/Goals: Overall can you tick any of these off? Have you started any? Challenge yourself.
  • Skills: What new skills are you teaching yourself or developing? At work and outside work.
  • Mindsets: Attitude checks – morning and night.  Write down your thoughts, if you struggle.
  • Talents: What talents have you got hidden, that your are not utilizing. Share them.
  • Habits: Are you breaking bad ones, creating new and healthy ones? Track your progress.
Make time for it. Just get it done.

Nobody ever got STRONG or got in SHAPE by thinking about it. They did it. – Jim Wendler

Day #050: Don’t Think. Just Do.

This is it people we have now completed 13.7% of the year.
  • 50 days
  • 1,200 hours
  • 72,000 minutes
  • 4,320,000 seconds

This year is already flying by and hopefully so is your progress. Today I want to ask you and challenge you on your progress.

Firstly… Are you even working on DOING, BEING, BECOMING and ACHIEVING your goals or dreams for the year?

Have you got a routine, have you got a plan? Have you got your mind in the game, in the zone?

2016 will be the year you make it. I personally will make it a year better than last. But what type of year are you going to make it?

Some say I’m mad, some say I’ve got it all together. I say I am driving myself to be more and more each day.

Put it this way…

With 50 days done, 1,200 hours completed and 72,000 minutes dusted off, what do you have to show for it?

What have you conquered?

  • Opportunities
  • New Skills
  • Training
  • Experience
  • Growth
  • Networking

I am a bit of a workaholic… but you / we shouldn’t just be pushing ourselves in the workplace, but in all areas of your life.

One of my priorities outside of work is my Fitness. Last year in 2015 by this time I had run 81.4 km, where as this year I am already at 126.5 km. 2 years ago I had not even hit 20 km. See the growth?

However if I compare this to my working hours (you should do the same) this is nowhere near my working hours, but I haven’t even broken down the amount of hours into the different elements as noted above. Let alone the other elements outside of work.

And remember it shouldn’t be seen as work, work, work. If you are growing in multiple areas at work, is it really just work?

Other areas you should be pushing to grow yourself are:

  • Health
  • Relationships
  • Work
  • Spiritual Walk
  • Finances
  • Aspirations/Goals
  • Skills
  • Mindsets
  • Talents
  • Habits

The list could go on and on. But the point is you should be challenging yourself in all aspects of your life.

Yes focus on your strengths the most, but don’t keep your weaknesses, as weaknesses. Build them – Grow them.

Don’t think. Just do.

Today is the best day to start working towards your goals and dreams. Start now.

Remember what Michael Jordan said/did:

“I’ve missed more than 9000 shots in my career. I’ve lost almost 300 games. 26 times, I’ve been trusted to take the game winning shot and missed. I’ve failed over and over and over again in my life. And that is why I succeed.” – Michael Jordan

This quote by retired basketball legend Michael Jordan in a Nike advertisement speaks for itself.

It would be an easy misconception that Jordan’s basketball skills revolve around natural talent. In fact, in his earlier years, basketball coaches had trouble looking past the fact that Jordan didn’t reach the minimum height. It was years of effort, practice, and failure that made the star we know today.

Day #049: Make It Radiate

Don’t let anyone ever dull your sparkle.

You control and regulate your happiness.

You are special, you are great and most of all you are you.

Be you and be full of the joy and embrace the greatness you are.

No matter however you sparkle, however you shine, or however you glow – MAKE IT RADIATE.

Smile to the world, keep your chin up and your eye on the prize.

Take your buzz, take your sparkle and own your day. See your goal in sight and hit the ground running.

Remember the sky is the limit.

Be determined. Be persistent. Be disciplined.

Take your sparkle and share it with the world.

  • Express gratitude
  • Cultivate optimism
  • Practice acts of kindness
  • Nurture relationships
  • Learn to forgive
  • Care for your body
  • Share
  • Laugh
  • Listen
  • Have fun
  • Compliment those around you
  • Smile

Most of all – Be You!

So get out there, smile and let the whole world know!

Once you have your SPARKLE in tact – make sure you encourage others sparkles….

  • When people make you smile – these are the people to bounce off!
  • But make sure you let them know just how big of a smile they are giving you.
  • I believe smiling is a key element in creating everyday filled with happiness, joy and excitement.
  • When you smile it should make you happy. But when someone else makes you smile this is so much more.
  • So appreciate these people more, as they surely appreciate you enough to make you smile!
What makes you SPARKLE? – I would love to hear what makes your sparkle.

“Leave a little sparkle wherever you go.” – Unknown

Day #048: Happy Power

I am because I say I am.

I haven’t always been a positive person. I was once known for my critiques in trying to make something perfect.

However, as I have grown, and journeyed through life (only young).

I have become to realize that happiness is as simple as just choosing to be happy.

The moment you realize happiness is a choice. You will instantly empower yourself.

The moment you realize you can choose to take a positive approach, you will soon learn the ways of perception.

The moment we choose to perceive things differently by choosing a loving perception of ourselves, others, and our circumstances… we not only strengthen our capacity to feel happy—we also open ourselves up to limitless possibilities where there once was seemingly no solution.

What boosts my happiness and drives each day? Seeing those around me as happy or happier than me.

Happiness isn’t based on the amount of dollars you have, the wheels that get you from A to B or the size of the house you live in.

Happiness is based on the reflection of your personal values. Yes money is great and will make you feel great for a time, but nothing beats:

  • your self-confidence
  • your appreciation of who you are and what you can do
  • affirmation of your skills and talents
  • when others give you attention or ask you for advice

Value yourself and you will be happy!

Whats a challenge today?

When you stop beating yourself up, stop fighting yourself and stop lowering who you are and what you can do, you will also stop holding yourself back.

Try adding in a positive mindset each day. Try making someone else happy!

Remember that the happiest people are not those getting more, but those giving more. – H. Jackson Brown, Jr.

List out the goals to achieve each day, or list 3 things positive of yourself every day. List 3 ways you can help others be happy too.

Work on these, push these and drive these to expand and stretch your growth! Have fun!

Day #047: Confidence Over Doubt

Obstacles are there to be conquered and there to be overcome!

As you learn to defeat more and more obstacles, your confidence, your skills and your maturity in wisdom will increase.

You just need to make sure you don’t doubt your ability to actually do it… Even if it does take time. Time will build you. So get out there and conquer!

I have said this numerous times… You are your own worst enemy and you are the only thing stopping you from stepping over an obstacle.

Ask yourself: What do you desire? What makes you itch? What sort of situation would you like?

If you have talents and skills that you know you can do:

  • Do them.
  • Show them.
  • Share them.
  • Build them.
  • Expose them.

Even if they are basic, small and not even at a professional level, these are still skills, talents and things others cannot do.

As you continue to develop these, you will only become BETTER and soon enough you will be a MASTER.

There will always be a need or a want to have someone who has experience to teach and educate others. Even if your experience is little. It is more than them.
So imagine what people will want from you or be willing to give you/pay for when you are a MASTER.

Don’t limit your chances, don’t limit your potential and don’t limit your possibilities just because you don’t think something is good enough.

It is good enough. Believe it and know it.

I’m so frustrated by the opportunities, the hidden potential, the amazing skills I see that people have. Yet they choose to hide them, lower them, diminish them, because they are scared it isn’t good enough.

I understand you may lack the confidence in your own creation. But if you don’t start trusting yourself, how will you ever be able to make decisions.

Take a chance with being yourself and what you can do. Yes you may have some set backs, some tough times and some failures. But once you have counteracted these, grown through these and conquered these; you will be better than ever and I will guarantee that you will be happier too.

That’s everybody is – somebody is interested in everything, anything you can be interested in, you will find others will. But it’s absolutely stupid to spend your time doing things you don’t like, in order to go on spending things you don’t like, doing things you don’t like and to teach our children to follow in the same track. – Alan Watts

Here’s your chance to take action…

I would love to hear and have you share what it is you do, or wish to do.
Even if you don’t believe it yet, I dare you to take a chance to share with me what it is you like to do.

Day #046: Dream But Start Doing

It’s great to dream and it’s great to be able to see what it is you want to work towards.

However, when it comes to living a dream you won’t always get what you want. Living a dream or more so living out your dream, all comes down to you and your ability to stick to it. But first you must do it!

If I can give any advice for when it comes to pursuing your dreams. It is to JUST START.

Start doing something, and the rest will follow.

The below 9 tips are ways to start doing rather than just dreaming.

1. Accept responsibility for your own actions
“Start where you are. Use what you have. Do what you can.” -Arthur Ashe

2. Give and receive love and forgiveness
“Learn how to fill your day with POSITIVITY. Think of how your ideas CAN work, not how it won’t work.” -Steve Harvey

3. Accept yourself
“No one can make you feel inferior without your consent.” -Eleanor Roosevelt

4. Choose who you surround yourself with wisely
“We met for a reason, either you’re a blessing or a lesson.” -LoveQuotesPlus

5. Learn to ignore the negativity from others
“I don’t know what the key to success is, but the key to failure is trying to please everyone.” -Bill Cosby

6. Carefully layout your plans
“Failure is not the opposite of success, inaction is.” -Rois Liano

7. Do SOMETHING, ANYTHING
“Success usually comes to those who are too busy to be looking for it.” -Henry David Thoreau

8. Embrace failures and detours along the way
“I have not failed. I’ve just found 10,000 ways that won’t work.” -Thomas Edison

9. Network and use resources to your advantage
“Opportunities don’t happen. You create them.” -Chris Grosser

Dreams are like floating down a lazy river. The path to success is like riding a roller coaster. Find the courage to get on the roller coaster, and stay on the ride until you puke. – Margaux Daughtry

Day #045: Love Me Like You Do

On a special day like today there are literally 2 types of people.
Single & Taken.

Regardless of your status today, there are a couple of things I want to remind you of.

For those who are single – this primarily goes out to you – but it is just as good for those who are taken.

To be beautiful means to be yourself. You don’t need to be accepted by others. You need to accept yourself. – Thich Nhat Hanh

  • Remind yourself today of who you are. Single? Yes. But that’s OK.
  • Remind yourself that any sense of love is found within and you are that love.
  • Remind yourself that the love you dream of, should be a mere enfolding and reflection of your own affection and appreciation.
  • Remind yourself of your passion, of your heart. What is it you love to do?
  • Take away your money and your job and what is it that you would do each day, every day?
  • Remind yourself to breathe. To relax. Let go into the calmness.
  • Stop fighting against yourself by thinking and desiring people and events in your life should be different.
  • Own your potential. Love yourself enough to know you have opportunities at every corner.
  • Take action today and create a beautiful life for yourself. You should have this already.
  • Do what honors and respects you. Don’t do the things that bring you down.
  • Remove the toxic from your life.
  • Focus on the positive. It makes all the difference.

If you are keen to spread some love today, you don’t need to be ‘taken’ or have a Valentine to do so.

Do this by:

  • Smiling
  • Buy a coffee or meal for someone – a stranger even
  • Give when you haven’t been asked to
  • Believe in making a difference and do so
  • Have faith and believe in someones dreams
  • Encourage
  • Compliment from the heart
  • Forgive the grudges – Let it go!
  • Spend your time. Spend it wisely

I was recently reminded – that if you take a chance with Valentines Day, the worse thing that can happen, is you will be right back where you started.

With this in mind. Everyday we have a chance to be the someone you are, to make an impact to the world. You have a chance to attempt to be better, to make a difference, to follow your dreams, to take action. If you fail – well you may have to start again. But you still went for it. Now you can do it again, but better.

We all have love, we all have passions. This love and passion, doesn’t need to be through a valentine.

You can express love through doing your passion. Do it and do it wholeheartedly!

Anyway – you know what they say… When you are single:

You’ll find someone when you stop looking.

 Happy Valentines Day.

Day #044: Get Up And Go

We all have the times that things won’t and don’t go as planned.

We will have set backs, delays and hurdles to conquer, but this doesn’t mean it is the end.

All these should be seen as opportunities.

Opportunities to reach out and discover new ways of doing and approaching the very things we do each day, and the things we are learning to conquer.

When you fail – don’t lay on the ground waiting to be picked up.

Pick yourself up and get back to it. Get back to it better than you were before.

Come back with an attitude, determined to be better.

You can either be setback or you can use it as a launching pad into something more. Something great. Something greater.

When you struggle with trying to capture the results you are looking for, the best approach is to identify that you have hit a point requiring a change.

Accepting defeat and realizing the battle is lost, is OK… only if you accept that you need to make come back and fight and push harder.

This will be a step closer to becoming a greater you.

Let me remind you:

You may never be the best. But you can always be your best. – Chris Furlong

We can’t learn and grow without mistakes. It is as simple as that.

A bird learns to fly after falling a million times — but it never gives up.

If you fail once this does not mean you will fail every time.

It’s the best way to explore your abilities and learn to make the most of the viable opportunities.
