If the pursuit of passion was easy, the value in which passion, grit, and hard work create would be lost. Life is a struggle, we know that. But regardless of the path dealt or chosen, we all will encounter the tough. How this is an experience for everyone, will be at different levels, some of great magnitude and others in a what would seem “small” capacity. However, facing the tough and facing the reality of having to persevere, struggle, face fear, push, push and push some more – the fight to create, live and find true passion, comes at a cost. But the rewards well supersede this cost. 

Do not fall victim of giving up. Facing the tough creates the tough and true passion, requires true grit.

It is a simple fact and highly expected that sometimes you will win and sometimes you will lose. Regardless of who you are, what you have done or can do, we all have good and bad days. The frustrating part is we can be putting in our best, we could have worked thoroughly, strategically and planned out how they day would go – yet we still come up short, or with a result, we were not looking for. With this said, we also have day’s where we surprise ourselves. We come through at the end of the day and we complete our task at hand with flying colors.

We can prepare, we can plan, we can train and we can be the best. However, there will be things out of our control, there will be days where things seem against us. There will be days where things seem too good, where the days are handed to us on a silver platter.

Take what you can get, leverage the good days, but most of all – learn to grow from the bad days.

Progress can be harder than we expect, but only if we make it that way. Starting a new year always brings unstated expectations and pressures due to the suggestion that everyone is working towards bettering themselves. Regardless if you are or not and regardless of it being a new year, I think we should be always trying to grow. Through growth we learn to conquer and as we conquer we learn more about who we are and what we stand for. 

Progress over perfection is a way to address the race to being more but in a less intense way. Somedays we will feel like we are taking 2 steps back, but as long as we are trying to move forward, we are actually still progressing. Action will always be greater than doing nothing. 

Take action today. Progress more and perfection will come.

With the right motivation a determined mindset and a positive attitude – you will be surprised with what you can do. Being a new year and all there is an unstated abundance of motivation in the air. Naturally, we are more motivated due to the time of year. However, as the year progresses, even the weeks, if we fail to remain consistent, if we fail to land ourselves into a routine of a new change, the motivation weakens. 

The key is to combine challenge with passion, add routine, the right attitude and you will find that your motivation will be easier to uphold, and if you continue to track progress, even in the smallest amounts, the stats, the data points and the visual exposure to seeing you succeed or make change results will further compound this motivation.

Do not fall victim to living in the past. Live for today and focus on today. However, keep your plan focused on tomorrow and the days to come. Do not look back, you are not going that way. Look forward, keep you head straight and focused on the things to come today and the things to come tomorrow. Be prepared, but do not be anxious. Be aware, but do not be consumed.

Stop waiting to start. Start before you’re ready. As people, we tend to wait around until the time is right. The time will never be right except for now. The concept of starting suggests we must be ready, however, if we start now with the intention to do whatever it is we plan to do, we start off working towards becoming ready and growing along the way. Like any professional and successful icon, they have gone through many if not dozens of stages and increments of growth in which they were not always ready. 

In order for us to be ready for the next thing we want to do, we need to start now and we will become ready along the way.

We should always be putting in out best making sure that when you work, you are working hard and smart. As through hard work comes great reward. But in doing so we need to remember to save time for play and of course we need to play harder. Like yesterday’s post, we need to make sure we celebrate the wins, that we treat ourselves and allow and enable time for us to rest, recover and enjoy recreation. We can work very hard – but like anyone, we all need an outlet to reenergize and replenish ourselves for maximum output. What better way than to have some fun. 

The question you need to ask yourself is – how do you play harder? What are some of the things you like to do to RELAX?

Treat yourself when the time is right. The idea of treating yourself is generalized as this picture represents it as – through a source of sugary goods or comfort foods. Now as much as this may be a treat, you can treat yourself through other mediums aside from food, but should you choose to treat yourself through food be mindful of the quantity and the type of food. There are plenty of natural and healthy treats. 

This aside, the idea of treating yourself should come from bringing yourself to a point in which you deserve a reward, you deserve a treat. Set some goals, set some milestones and set some rules for yourself. When you meet these goals, these milestones and abide by the rules allow yourself to be treated.

Take time to celebrate the wins, take the time to reflect on the wins.

Sometimes we forget to believe. Sometimes we forget the capability of ourselves. We forget our ability to do and fall victim of overthinking. When sometimes we need to take a step back, rethink and have a little faith. I am not saying to be overconfident, nor to be arrogant. But you need to believe in yourself. You need to stand tall and do what you do and do it well. You will never be perfect but you can be your best and your best will grow. 

Today you should believe in yourself and so you should for each day after that.

Remember the days of being a child when things were simpler, things were full of passion. We were not limited by reality and our dreams and imagination were endless. As children we adapted to a mentality that we could do and be anything we wanted, even an astronaut seemed legit. Regardless if we could or we couldn’t it was the same when we were able to do the things we love. Whether it be playing soccer or another sport, spending time with family or friends, exploring, playing in the sand, building cubby houses or going fishing for carp in the local lake. 

The point is that all these things were an adventure, they were bigger than they seemed and they enabled us as children to feel passionate and excited about something. In doing so as children, we would imagine, dream and even create stories of what we would do or want to be. As children, we were not bound by limitations. 

As children, we did it all with Passion.

That is the key… Do it with Passion or not at all.
